Unified Defense, based in Byron, Georgia, builds precision metal fabrication and ground support equipment for defense and government customers, from C-130 dollies to aircraft maintenance stands. Together with Prince Service & Manufacturing, a Macon fabricator operating since 1965 and part of the same group, they developed the DDS, a deployable maintenance platform that unfolds beside an aircraft and reconfigures to fit different airframes.
A platform built to adapt is hard to sell on a single aircraft, because one setup hides the reconfiguration that sets it apart. We structured the film around deployment, unloading the DDS at an austere desert airfield and placing it beside fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft of very different sizes, with the system refolding to fit each one. Keeping the mechanism on screen at every stop lets a maintenance audience see how one unit covers multiple platforms.
